About the festival
‘THE IRISH WEEK’ IS THE LARGEST FESTIVAL OF IRISH CULTURE IN RUSSIA.
The festival has been annually held for almost the past 10 years, taking place at the biggest venues in Moscow. Additionally, some other events take place in other Russian cities. The programme covers different art forms geared towards adults and the whole family. Dates of the festival coincide with the main national Irish holiday well known worldwide – St Patrick’s Day, which is celebrated on the 17th of March.
In March 2021, a wide variety of the festival’s events will take place. This includes – the 15th Irish Film festival in Moscow, an incredible 9-hour folk festival ‘St Patrick’s Day and Night’, plays based on the works of notable Irish writers, the Irish dancing festival ‘St Patrick’s DANCE PARADE’, programme for kids in the Central House of Journalists, lectures and discussions about Ireland, parties in Irish pubs and so much more!

In accordance with article 5.1 of the Federal Law of 22 August 1996 N 126-FZ ‘About state support of cinema in the Russian Federation’ the license is not needed <…> if foreign films are shown during international events held as part of cultural exchange between the Russian Federation and another country. We are delighted to announce that the 15th Irish film festival is held in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Ekaterinburg and Novosibirsk as part of the cultural exchange between Russia and Ireland. The screening of Irish films is the focal point of introducing the Russian people to the best artworks from Irish cinema. The festival is held with the support of the Irish Embassy and Irish State Agency which is involved in Culture Ireland, which the promotion of the Irish arts worldwide.
