Irish Week 2017 – Literature & Arts Festival

IRISH WEEK 2017 is expanding the borders of literature world and brings three young and successful Irish writers to Moscow. Karl Geary, also an actor and a scriptwriter, has recently published his debut novel, ‘Montpelier Parade’ – is a moving account of an adolescent boy’s coming of age. Deirdre Sullivan has established a reputation for herself as a leading Irish YA author; she will present ‘Needlework’, which is a girl’s meditation on her efforts to maintain her bodily and spiritual integrity in the face of abuse, violation and neglect. John Patrick McHugh has strong links with Russia – two years ago he followed after Lenin’s 1,851-mile trek from Zurich to St Petersburg in 1917. John will read from his new short stories collection at the festival events.

Two meetings and readings with Irish authors will be held in English language. These events will be of interest for those who are studying English language and those who are fond of contemporary literature and hopes to be in line with new tendencies.
