An insanely dark comedy about life in the tiny town of Dromord ruled over by opporessive local Irish minigarch Daddy Mannion whose dysfunctional family hold a grip on the town, one way, or another. Doggy Mannion, a reclusive entreprenuer who runs the local dating and betting agencies from a caravan in a forest; Martin Mannion, a failed chicken farmer distracted by his libido; and Sara, Daddy Mannion’s new young wife, former love of Doggy, who is trapped and ready for revenge.
Part classic McDonagh, and with an Irish take on Tarantino/The Coen Brothers, the mysteries, eccentricities, and in-bred rivalries of this little fiefdom lead to a compelling, twisted, and at times hilarious caricature of small-time provincial life played out by some of Ireland’s best and most recognisable acting talent.
